Riot ST VCF: Stereo Filter for Your Rack

The Riot ST VCF is a stereo low-pass filter for Eurorack, based on the original Riot VCF. It takes the same aggressive sound and expands it with true stereo capabilities. Beyond its powerful sound, the Riot ST VCF features a unique PCB art design on its 12HP front panel, showcasing a striking blend of black, white, and exposed copper traces. This visual aesthetic ensures your module stands out in any rack.

The Riot ST VCF features stereo inputs and outputs. If you have a mono signal, just plug it into the left input; an internal switched jack will route your signal to both channels, allowing for a stereo output.

The Stereo Space control is a key feature, allowing you to manipulate the cutoff frequencies of each channel independently, creating dynamic stereo movement. When the fader is centered, both channels share the same cutoff frequency, maintaining a mono-like filter effect. As you slide the fader left or right, the cutoff frequency of one channel will increase while the other decreases by an equal amount, spreading your sound across the stereo field.

For even more expressive control, the Riot ST VCF offers CV control over Frequency,

 Resonance, and Stereo Space.

Patch a CV source into the Stereo Space input, and the fader provides unique control over how that CV affects your sound. When the Stereo Space fader is in the middle position, the incoming CV has no effect on the cutoff frequencies. As you move the fader to the right, the CV will increase the right channel's cutoff frequency while decreasing the left channel's cutoff frequency by the same amount, following the shape of the CV signal. Conversely, moving the fader to the left will cause the CV to increase the left channel's cutoff frequency and decrease the right channel's cutoff frequency, again mirroring the CV's shape.

Essentially, the fader acts as a bipolar control for the CV, determining which channel's frequency is increased and which is decreased, and by how much, creating dynamic and responsive stereo motion.

The Riot ST VCF uses the same OTA core as the original Riot, delivering that characteristic thick low-end and wild, untamed resonance, now in a stereo format.
